the grey fallacy
the gray fallacy
the truth is NOT always "somewhere in the middle"
markdewdney.com
Nuance. Spin. Slant. Shades of grey. The World Is Not Always Black And White, Mark. (Oh, how I can hear my dad, with echoes of Grandpa, in those words.)

Those are all, to one degree or another, true statements.

However, those are all designed to give the casual listener, one not given to further pursuit, one that wants The Easy Truth,(a lazy thinker, natch) an easy way out, moooooo...

If you're truly intellectually honest, there are two things you will do;
1) Never accept that the truth is automatically a Shade Of Grey;
2) Surround yourself with people who will push you and challenge your manner of thinking.

If you can accomplish those two things, you - and your world - will be much better for it...even if we disagree.

Okay, sure...a lot of times, The Truth Is A Shade Of Gray. Fine, I can accept that - but only after thorough examination, debate and heating in the crucible of both opinion and critical thought.

I don't pretend to be the master of all I survey or even think about; that's why there's a slot for your comments at the bottom. (try to be polite; my mom and dad read this page sometimes...)

I will post things here that raise my eyebrows; eventually, I may sub-categorize or otherwise organize them, but for now, I give myself leave to be impressively scatterbrained, preferring instead a gigantic mental game of Whack-A-Mole.

Try and keep up, okay? Beautiful. Let's go.
